GENERAL SAFETY

Read, understand, and follow the instructions and safety warnings in this manual before using this product. Do not use this product if you are not able to comprehend and adhere to the provided instructions and warnings. Failure to understand and follow safe usage and maintenance procedures for this product could result in property damage, serious injury, or death to yourself or others. Save all written operating and safety instructions for future reference. If needed, contact us to obtain additional copies at no charge.

Do not rely solely on the HOOK HOLSTER to prevent cut injuries. Exercise care, caution, professional judgment, and common sense when using and working around sharp gaffs. Accidents can still occur with use of the HOOK HOLSTER.

Exercise care when locking and unlocking the HOOK HOLSTER™. Forcefully kicking off or engaging in other aggressive actions can diminish product effectiveness and longevity. Specific HOOK HOLSTER “useful life expectancy” is not specified, as it depends on factors such as usage, storage conditions, and maintenance. You are responsible for selecting appropriate equipment, receiving proper training, and ensuring equipment passes inspection before use. Any equipment showing defects, damage, or deterioration should be immediately taken out of service and labeled as unusable or destroyed. Regular inspections, conducted by a Competent Person defined by OSHA/ANSI, are required at least annually to confirm equipment safety. You must adhere to OSHA/ANSI/ASTM standards when using the HOOK HOLSTER.

Always ensure that the HOOK HOLSTER is fully locked onto your gaffs or bolt bag before storage. Failure to do so may result in the HOOK HOLSTER becoming dislodged, potentially causing injury.

NEVER drop or allow the HOOK HOLSTER™ to fall from any height. Follow all company policies and procedures, industry standards, OSHA regulations, and any applicable safety protocols and guidelines for overhead work when using the HOOK HOLSTER™.

Keep the HOOK HOLSTER™ free from dust, dirt, and debris and store in a clean, dry environment at room temperature when not in use. If needed, such as after contact with mud, use mild soap on a damp cloth to clean the HOOK HOLSTER™ and dry thoroughly with a clean cloth. Never use flammable, combustible, or harsh cleaning agents around the HOOK HOLSTER™.

RARE-EARTH MAGNET SAFETY

Special caution is needed with the rare-earth magnets integrated within the HOOK HOLSTER’S patent-pending design. If a magnet on your HOOK HOLSTER becomes dislodged, breaks, or the exterior coating becomes compromised, immediately remove from service, place the HOOK HOLSTER along with the damaged magnet(s) in a safe container, and label as unusable or destroy it. If within 12 months from date of purchase, contact us for warranty review.

Always store the HOOK HOLSTER™ out of reach of children. Rare-earth magnets are not safe for children! Small magnets are a choking hazard. If multiple magnets are swallowed, they can attach to one another through organ walls. This can cause a severe health risk, requiring immediate emergency surgery. Only professional users with access to linemen’s or arborist’s climbing gaffs should have access to this product.

NEVER disassemble, drill, machine, or otherwise tamper with the HOOK HOLSTER™. Rare-earth magnets can chip, crack, or even shatter under impact, possibly launching small pieces at high speeds, which could cause severe injury or death. In addition, when rare-earth magnets are ground into a dust or powder, this material is highly flammable.

Avoid direct contact with the HOOK HOLSTER™ if you have a nickel allergy. People with a nickel allergy may experience an allergic reaction with redness and a skin rash if they come in contact with the nickel plating of rare-earth magnets.

Exercise caution with strong magnetic fields which may emanate from the HOOK HOLSTER. Rare-earth magnets are more powerful than “regular” magnets with which you may be familiar, and powerful attraction between magnets can cause serious injury. Do not place fingers or other body parts between magnets. Also avoid placing HOOK HOLSTER in the proximity of any other magnets to avoid attraction.

Keep the HOOK HOLSTER away from all implanted medical devices. Pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators, and other implanted medical devices may deactivate in the presence of a magnetic field.

Keep the HOOK HOLSTER away from all electronic appliances, magnetic media, and navigation devices. Strong magnetic fields can damage electronic appliances such as televisions, computer monitors, and CRT displays; magnetic media such as credit cards and magnetic ID cards; and navigation devices such as compasses, magnetometers, smartphones, and GPS devices.

Avoid using the HOOK HOLSTER if metal shavings are present. Metal shavings, such as those generated by sharpening gaffs, can become embedded in the magnets of the HOOK HOLSTER, potentially rendering the product unusable and creating safety hazards to you or others.

Do not use the HOOK HOLSTER™ in a damp or wet environment. While the magnets in your HOOK HOLSTER have a three-layer plating which typically prevents corrosion, please note that the magnets are NOT waterproof. If any HOOK HOLSTER becomes wet, please dry it off immediately and completely to avoid corrosion and corresponding loss of magnetic strength.

Avoid placing the HOOK HOLSTER near strong heat sources. Heat exposure can cause rare-earth magnets to lose their magnetic properties.
